On Thursday afternoon, May 17, a group of engineering and environmental science students from Alabama, Auburn, UAB, and Samford visited the Club with John Morris, our liaison with Alabama Power, Kenneth Odum, Alabama Power engineer and Hydro Power Institute representative, and representatives from a Hydroelectric Power machinery company, and a Civil Engineering company as well as other Power Company employees; after having toured Logan Martin Dam.
They explored the clubhouse and grounds, used our swimming area, and relaxed in the lounge chairs at the waterfront. Members, Danny Waters and Suzy Cheney were prepared to launch sailboats for their use, but with a total lack of wind, put four kayaks in the water instead, which were a big hit with our visitors.
After relaxing on the front porch, they were given a brief oral history of the Club, visualized on our new large screen TV, displaying the old photos which are located on our website. They had arranged for a dinner catered by Butts to Go, which was also enjoyed by several BSC Board members who had arrived early for their monthly Board meeting at the Club.
